Description: Asian Skin is a color atlas of skin diseases. Since the authors are from Singapore, all the patients photographed are Asian. However, the diseases discussed are not unique to Asians and most of the skin abnormalities do not look clinically significantly different in Asians. There is a short clinical description and therapeutic statement accompanying each photograph. Some of the photographs are not high enough in quality to see the details of lesions, for example in leprosy, Hailey-Hailey disease, pseudoxanthoma elasticum.
Purpose: The purpose is to educate physicians in diagnosing dermatologic conditions in Asians by providing a color reference.
Audience: The audience is physicians and dermatology residents.
Features: The best feature is the number of photographs and the range of skin abnormalities covered. Aside from the tendency of Asian skin to hyperpigment I would have liked to have seen more of a discussion on how Asian skin looks different with particular conditions versus non-Asian skin.
Assessment: There are many good clinical color atlases available and this will join that number.
